Welcome, Arizona Academic Decathlon Coaches!

This is your resource section; here you’ll find everything you need to help prepare for this year’s Arizona Academic Decathlon competitions.

Luncheon with AADA Board_011You’ll find links to our handbook and guidelines, details about our annual Coaches’ Clinic, and all the necessary forms and paperwork. We recommend that you first download the Key Events & Deadlines PDF which highlights the important  dates you need to know throughout the competition year.

Why is it Important for Students to Participate?

The Academic Decathlon has three main objectives: 1) to foster intellectual competitiveness; 2) to broaden academic horizons;  3) to promote the ability to communicate effectively. These objectives combine to truly arm students with 21st century skill sets.

Remember that nine students will make up your school Academic Decathlon® team at the Regional competition and beyond, but your squad should be bigger, to study and prepare for multiple levels of competition. The Decathlon program provides incentive for both average, as well as for highly academically achieving students, to become energized by intellectual activities; it opens the door to academic achievement for all.

We’re proud that the Arizona State Champion team consistently places in the top five at the United States Academic Decathlon competition nearly every year. Thank you for supporting this important Arizona scholastic program and good luck in the competitions!
